Under the direction of the Archivist, the Archives Assistant will be involved in all aspects of managing an archival collection, including:

  • Appraising archival materials
  • Arranging and describing archives
  • Digitizing archival materials
  • Preparing exhibits
  • Writing blog posts and articles
  • Updating social media
  • Helping visitors with reference questions

Requirements:

  • Must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary program in archival, library, museum or information studies; or a student enrolled in another program who has taken a substantial course in archival studies
  • Able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Proficient with computers and office software
  • Courteous and tactful in dealing with the public
  • Careful worker with a thoughtful approach and attention to detail
  • Must have ability to lift records boxes weighing up to 20 kilograms

The position is funded by Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations.  This position is contingent on receiving funding approval from Young Canada Works.

Under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, Lifeguards are responsible for lifeguarding and maintaining patron safety at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre and the City of Belleville wading pools.

Requirements:

  • Must possess valid Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. 'C' Certification
  • Previous experience in lifeguarding would be an asset

POWER SKATING ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR, TEMPORARY, PART-TIME

This position assists the Power Skating Instructor to provide Instruction to children and youth in the City of Belleville’s Power Skating Programs.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed
  • Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills
  • Responsible for assisting to provide skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents in the City’s power skating programs
  • Assist the Power Skating Instructor in an emergency situation
  • Assist in the administration and paperwork for the City’s power skating programs
  • Attend all training and staff meetings as scheduled

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Standard or Emergency First Aid & CPR 'C'
  • Experience working with children & youth
  • Skilled skater with experience teaching/coaching skate programs

TRANSIT SUPERVISOR, PERMANENT

Salary: $71,841 - $85,525 per annum


Reporting to the Manger of Transit Operations, the Transit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing public transportation and the leadership, mentorship and development of our team of Bus Operators.

The Transit Supervisor monitors on-street transit service and coordinates operations to meet established performance standards. The Supervisor monitors dispatching functions and allocation of operators to meet on-street operational requirements and controls; and to respond to operator and customer service issues.

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:

Essential Qualifications (minimum)

  • A college diploma in business management, operations management or related field
  • Valid class "G" driver's license with clean driver’s abstract

Asset Qualifications (preferred)

  • Thorough practical knowledge of transit operations is an asset
  • A working knowledge of administrative policies and procedures directly related to public transit services
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and legislation
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, CAD, other computerized response programs
  • Valid class "C" driver's license with “Z” endorsement

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Essential Qualifications (minimum)

  • Minimum of four (4) years supervisory experience
  • Experience managing and supervising in a unionized environment

Asset Qualifications (preferred)

  • Prior experience working with Commissions or Advisory Committees is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) with respect to public transit and the Highway Traffic Act
  • Experience in a municipal transit system
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, decision-making and public relations skills, with the capability to issue clearly understandable written and oral instructions.
