A proclamation is an official announcement or declaration made by the Mayor and/or Council to recognize an important matter.
Proclamations may be issued for various special events, occasions or issues and serve as a public education and awareness piece.
All requests for proclamations at the City of Belleville must first come through the Mayor's Office. The request is then processed, reviewed by the Mayor and if approved, made at a Belleville City Council meeting.
Those interested in having a proclamation, special request to light the Bridge Street Bridge and BELLEVILLE sign or to have a flag raising may submit an application using the online Proclamation, Lighting, Flag Raising Request Form.
More information on the lighting request policy is available on the Lighting Requests webpage.
Please remember: Advance notice is required to ensure adequate time for the approval process. Please ensure you submit your request no less than three months prior to the requested proclamation date.
