Construction to Begin on Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station Project

The City of Belleville is advising residents that construction on the Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project is scheduled to begin on Sept. 1. Work for Contract 1 of the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

Work will include construction of the new sewage pumping station and installation of twin sanitary forcemains connecting the station to the western limits of Contract 2.

As part of the project, work along Bridge Street West between Marshall Road and Palmer Road will include the installation of a sanitary sewer forcemain, asphalt resurfacing, curb replacement and boulevard restoration.

Work at the sewage pumping station site will include construction of the new pumping station, including foundation and site works, as well as installation of a sanitary sewer forcemain between the station and the Bridge Street West and Marshall Road area.

Traffic Impacts

Work on Bridge Street West will be limited to the section between Marshall Road and Palmer Road. Motorists can expect single-lane closures within the construction area while work is underway and are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signage and allow additional time for travel.

As construction schedules are finalized, the City will provide additional updates with more specific information on the timing and location of work and associated traffic impacts.

The Avonlough Sewage Pumping Station project is an important investment in the City’s wastewater infrastructure that will increase servicing capacity in west Belleville and help accommodate future residential growth in the area.

The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and motorists while this work is completed.
