Notice of public meeting for Development Charges Background Study and proposed by-law
The City of Belleville has completed a Development Charges Background Study and is inviting the public to review the document and provide feedback during a public meeting on July 27.
Development charges are fees collected from new development to help fund the growth-related capital costs of municipal infrastructure and services needed to support that growth.
The background study proposes a new Development Charges By-law to replace the existing by-law (2021-201). It evaluates how growth will impact infrastructure and community service needs over the next several years and recommends updated development charge rates and policies.
In accordance with Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, a statutory public meeting will be held during the regular council meeting on July 27.
WHAT: Development Charges Background Study Public Meeting
WHEN: Monday, July 27 at 4 p.m.
WHERE: Council Chamber, 4th floor, City Hall (169 Front St.)
The background study and draft by-law are available to view online on the Development Charges Study project page or in person at the Engineering and Development Services counter on the second floor of City Hall.
Feedback can be received in person at the public meeting or submitted online through the comment card on the project page under the survey tab.
The proposed by-law is anticipated to come before Council in September for consideration.
