The City of Belleville Welcomes Dr. Uyi Namuna
The City of Belleville is pleased to announce the signing of Dr. Uyi Namuna into the Belleville Family Physician Recruitment Program. Dr. Namuna has recently been working as a General Practitioner in the United Kingdom and will be joining the Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre (BQWCHC) in the Belleville clinic this September. As a full-time family physician with the BQWCHC, Dr. Namuna will help to care for many of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.
“Dr. Uyi Namuna and his family are in the process of moving to Belleville and I know our community will embrace them with open arms. Dr. Namuna is an experienced physician that will use his special skills and abilities to ensure his patients receive the best care possible,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “Council is very pleased to welcome Dr. Namuna and his family to our city and we look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

Although healthcare and physician recruitment are not a municipal responsibility, the City of Belleville has recognized the need and implemented one of the most successful physician recruitment programs in the province, recruiting approximately 70 physicians and ten nurse practitioners. The program is funded in part, by the dividends the City receives as a shareholder of Elexicon Energy and to date, over $9 million has been committed to attracting primary healthcare providers. million has been committed to attracting primary healthcare providers.

HCC is a resource used by physicians and government agencies to place patients with physicians and can be relied upon by doctors and nurse practitioners when developing or expanding their roster of patients.
