Belleville Fire and Emergency Services Kicks Off Fire Prevention Week with Open House

Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 4 to 10, and Belleville Fire and Emergency Services is hosting an open house at Station #3 to kick off the week.

The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station #3 (4867 Old Hwy. 2). The open house will include:

• Free hot dog lunch, snacks and drinks
• Scavenger hunt: find common household fire hazards
• Touch-a-truck: Get up close with fire trucks and tools used by firefighters
• Face painting & balloon twisting
• Auto extrication demonstration
• Kids fire fit challenge
• Tour of Fire Station #3

“Fire Prevention Week is about giving residents the tools and knowledge they need to keep their families safe at home,” said Fire Chief and Director of Fire and Emergency Services Dan Smith. “Our open house at Station 3 on Oct. 4 is a great opportunity to learn more about fire safety, get up close with the trucks and equipment, meet our firefighters and enjoy some fun, family-friendly activities.”

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is Charge into Fire Safety, Safe Charging is a Superpower, which aims to educate residents about lithium-ion batteries.
