George Street Boat Launch Closure

The George Street Boat Launch will be temporarily closed from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 and 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a special event. The Herchimer Boat Launch will remain open for use during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.

West Riverside Park Service Disruptions

Due to Hydro One and Elexicon Energy power line work at Riverside Park, the West Riverside Splash Pad and washrooms are now closed. The pirate ship playground will remain open during daytime hours, with a portable toilet available on-site during construction.

City of Belleville Approves New Development Charge By-law

Belleville City Council approved a new Development Charges By-law at its regular meeting on Sept. 14, 2026.

The new by-law establishes updated development charge rates for residential development across the city. For single-detached homes in Belleville’s urban area, the rate has decreased by $4,375 — a 14 per cent reduction from the rate under the previous by-law.

The by-law maintains the existing non-residential development charge rates while City staff complete a detailed review of feedback received from non-residential stakeholders during the public consultation process. Staff will report back to Council in early 2027 with recommendations related to non-residential rates.

The complete development charge rate schedule is available on the City’s Development Charges webpage. A copy of the new by-law is also available for public viewing at City Hall, located at 169 Front St., during regular business hours.
