The City of Belleville is pleased to announce that City Council and CLAC Local 920, the union representing the City’s Volunteer Firefighters, have successfully ratified a new collective agreement. This agreement, which succeeds the previous contract that expired on October 31, 2025, will remain in effect until December 31, 2027. Among its key highlights is a 3.5% wage increase slated for 2027.
In addition to the salary adjustment, several enhancements have been introduced to better support our Volunteer Firefighters. Payment frequency will now be updated to offer greater consistency for members. The promotional process has also been revised to align with Provincial Legislation and the agreement places increased emphasis on comprehensive training and the stewardship of municipal assets, reflecting the City’s ongoing commitment to the safety and professional development of its firefighting team.
This ratified agreement marks an important step forward in reinforcing the vital role our Volunteer Firefighters play in serving the Belleville community.
