All dogs over the age of 3 months must be registered with the City and have a valid dog tag. Dog tags must be renewed annually. The dog tag application form must be filled out and provided with payment.

How can I obtain a kennel license? |
|
Kennel licenses can be purchased through our Kennel License Application Form. This application is for new and renewals; the same application applies. The kennel definition as set out in By-law 2005-206, which defines “Kennel” shall mean premises other than a pet store, veterinary hospital or clinic, animal shelter or property that is operating a legitimate fostering program for dogs or cats under the authority of the Society, in which the predominant activity consists of the raising, boarding or training of dogs. Fees are referenced under the 2025-195 Fees By-law – $150.00. |

Special Provisions
- Veterinarian’s Certificate is necessary to certify that dogs have been spayed or neutered and immunized
- The owner or a properly certified guide dog shall not be required to obtain a tag for such dog
- The tag fee for dogs registered for the following year, in accordance with the terms of the By-Law, after September 30th shall be 50% of the fees specified above.
- The tag fee for newly adopted dogs, puppies, or new residents within a calendar tag year be reduced by 50% of the fees specific above.
