Thurlow Recycling Depot and Landfill
If you live in Thurlow (Ward 2), you can recycle and dispose of waste at the Thurlow Recycling Depot and Landfill located at 1320 Mudcat Rd. This service is in addition to your regular curbside garbage, recycling and organics collection. Here’s what you need to know:
- You must show proof of residency.
- Only waste generated within Thurlow Ward can be disposed of here.
- Only electronic payment is accepted.
- All garbage must be separated as directed by site staff.
Hours of Operation
Wednesdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The site is closed on statutory holidays.
Landfill
Ward 2 residents may dispose of a wide variety of waste at the landfill.

*An additional $35 surcharge will apply for items that contain Freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners) that have not been tagged by a certified person to be empty of refrigerant.

- Building materials (e.g. manufactured wood, drywall, insulation and shingles)
- Tires and tire tubes (take them to a registered tire collector)
- Mattresses and box springs (as of Jan. 1, 2023)
Recycling Depot
Recycling depot services are available free of charge to all Belleville residents for a range of accepted materials.
The depot accepts the following recycling materials free of charge:
- Corrugated cardboard
- Printed paper and packaging
- Plastic and metal containers
- Plastic bags
- Glass bottles and jars
- Scrap metal
- Electronic equipment under 250 kg (e.g., computers, phones, cables)
- Small and large appliances
- Power tools
- Information technology, telecommunication, audio-visual equipment weighing more than 250 kg
- Motor vehicles
- Children’s toys
- Textiles, clothing, furniture or any other upholstered or stuffed articles containing electrical and electronic equipment.
