Check Applicable Fees
Building permit fees are due at the time of permit application. On pages 18 and 19 of the application form, a calculation form has been provided to assist applicants in calculating the applicable fee.
Please note that the fee calculation will be performed by the Permit Clerk upon submission, and if the two totals do not match, the Permit Clerk’s calculation will be deemed to be correct.
When submitting the application via the Portal, only a base fee will be calculated and collected. Additional applicable fees will be calculated by the Permit Clerk and added to the file for payment.
Building Permit Fees
Application fees are calculated in accordance with the Consolidated Fees and Charges By-law, as amended. Without payment of the required fee the application shall be deemed to be incomplete.

Construction Without a Permit
Building without a permit can result in an administrative fee in accordance with the Consolidated Fees and Charges By-law, as amended, in addition to any other penalty under the Ontario Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code, or in the Building By-Law.
- Surcharge for Building Without a Permit is 30% of the Building Permit Fee(s), subject to a minimum of $150.
Refunds
Refunds must be requested within twelve months of issuance of the permit. The terms of requesting a refund can be found within our Building By-Law.

Development Charges
Development charges are calculated in accordance with the Development Charges By-Law. For many projects, a development charge is applicable. It is important to note that although these fees are not due until the time of permit issuance, or later if eligible for deferral, they are based on the rate that is in effect on the date of permit issuance rather than the date of permit application.
