Belleville Alerts

Some situations that could result in an emergency alert include: 

• 911 outages 
• Major fires 
• Major hazardous materials releases 
• Short-notice evacuations 
• Shelter-in-place orders 
• Significant unplanned road closures 
• Significant weather events 
• Boil water advisories 
• Other serious situations as deemed by the Community Emergency Management Coordinator or designate 
• Notifications that a situation has ended (if applicable) 

Phone calls will come from 613-962-1379. A pre-recorded message will inform you that the call is from Belleville Alerts and then a real or electronic voice will deliver a recorded message. 

Text messages will come from 343-307-7222 and will start with “Belleville Alert” followed by a message. 

Emails will come from alertsbelleville@belleville.ca and will indicate that they are from “Belleville Alert” and then contain the message. 

An alert could be received from all these three methods, or only some of them, depending on the contact information provided and nature of the emergency.

This system will be used to provide urgent information about imminent emergencies or significant events that could impact the Belleville community. Because of this, it is hard to determine frequency – calls, texts and/or emails could go out at any time (24/7) including nights, weekends or holidays, depending on when events occur. 

Belleville Alerts may also be used for tests to ensure that the system is working properly. Notification will be sent out in advance of any test advising the public of when it will occur. The test alerts will be marked as a “test” and will state that no further action is required. 

Paper copy forms are available at Fire Station #1 and can be filled out in-person or mailed back to Fire Station #1 at 60 Bettes St., Belleville, Ont. K8N 3W6 (Attn: Belleville Alerts).

Rave Mobile Safety is the company providing Belleville Alerts service to the City of Belleville. 

Alert Ready is a Canada-wide emergency alerting system that is operated on a provincial level. Belleville Alerts will be managed at the local level by City staff and is intended for specific events that could affect Belleville.

Belleville Alerts may allow for faster notification to our local community and provide important information that does not qualify for the Alert Ready system. 

In some situations, members of the community may receive both an Alert Ready notification from the Province, as well as a message from Belleville Alerts about an event. Members of the community may also receive a message from one system and not the other, depending on the situation.

Ensure that you have signed up to receive Belleville Alerts. If you have signed up but require assistance, you can call 613-968-6481 ext. 3029 during regular business hours or email alertsbelleville@belleville.ca.

Given that the delivery of a Belleville Alerts message cannot be guaranteed, other forms of communication from the City, local media and the Province will be used to provide important information to the community during an emergency.
