City seeks public input on future of Meyers Pier

The City of Belleville is inviting residents to help shape the future of Meyers Pier as part of an upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC) for the Meyers Pier Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) and Preliminary Design Study.

Meyers Pier is a landmark feature of Belleville’s waterfront, serving as a destination for recreation, tourism and community gatherings along the Bay of Quinte. As part of the study, the City will explore long-term solutions to address aging infrastructure and enhance the pier’s sustainability, functionality and overall user experience for residents and visitors.

Engineering assessments have identified structural deterioration within the existing pier infrastructure, making rehabilitation necessary in the short to medium term. Through the MCEA process, the City will evaluate a range of alternatives, including rehabilitation, replacement and potential expansion opportunities.

Residents are encouraged to attend the first of two planned PICs to learn more about the project, review preliminary findings and provide feedback.

An online drop-in option will also be available, with access details to be shared on the project webpage in advance of the event.

Information presented at the PIC will include the project’s Problem and Opportunity Statement, a summary of technical studies completed to date, alternative solutions being considered and a preliminary evaluation of potential impacts and benefits. City staff and project consultants will be available to answer questions and collect public feedback.
