During the Nov. 10 regular council meeting, Belleville City Council approved a motion to implement two-hour free parking in municipal lots in the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area (BDIA) boundaries. The initiative is set to begin at an undetermined date in 2026.
Once in place, signage indicating the two-hour free parking will be installed in affected lots. On-street parking will remain free for one-hour only.
An implementation plan is in development and additional details, including a start date, will be provided once available. Meanwhile, the City of Belleville reminds residents to adhere to existing parking regulations to avoid fines.
Free on-street parking remains available on Front Street (excluding lots) for up to one hour. All other on-street parking in the downtown core is available at a cost of $1.50 per hour with a maximum of two hours. Parking is also available in City-owned lots for $1.50 per hour for a maximum of nine hours. For more information on parking and a map of City-owned lots, visit: Belleville.ca/Parking
