Council to Meet with Local MPPs on Provincial Policy Impacts

Belleville City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. with MPP Tyler Allsopp (Bay of Quinte) and MPP Ric Breese (Hastings–Lennox and Addington). 

The meeting will provide an opportunity for direct dialogue between Council and local provincial representatives regarding legislation and policy decisions affecting municipalities, particularly those related to planning and development. 

Council will also discuss recent legislative changes and government programs connected to housing and homelessness, including funding levels and expectations related to homelessness supports, mental health services and primary care. 

In addition, Council will raise concerns about costs and service responsibilities being downloaded to municipalities and will review outstanding correspondence and previous resolutions awaiting response.
