The City of Belleville is now seeking feedback on updates to the Official Plan – Belleville’s long-term vision for growth.
The Official Plan is a policy document that guides decisions on land use, development and infrastructure planning. Prepared with community input, it outlines a municipality’s policies on how land should be used and ensures that future growth and development meet the community’s specific needs. Updates to the plan are being proposed to ensure that it aligns with recent provincial direction for land use, and to support and encourage a wider range of housing options and building types to meet changing housing needs in the city. This will include considerations for where more housing can be accommodated across the city, how new housing forms should fit within existing communities and how taller buildings can fit into the downtown, among other updates.
Members of the public are encouraged to learn more about the proposed updates and take the online survey by Dec. 17 on the Official Plan Review project page.
