A partnership consisting of the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board, the City of Belleville and the City of Quinte West are provincial champions after they were recognized last night by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) at their annual Awards of Excellence last night in Toronto.
The award in the Workforce Development & Talent Attraction category was for a combination of projects under the Work in Quinte banner. This included the redesign and rebrand of WorkinQuinte.ca, managed by the Regional Marketing Board, and the bi-annual Work in Quinte Career Fairs, managed by the Cities of Belleville and Quinte West.
“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized by EDCO for our workforce development efforts,” says Elisha Maguire, Manager Economic Development, City of Belleville. “By bringing employers, job seekers, and community partners together, we’re creating real opportunities that support a resilient and growing workforce across the Quinte region.”
Linda Lisle, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism for the City of Quinte West notes that "This award celebrates the success of our workforce development initiatives and is a direct result of our deep collaboration with our partners and the business community. We are stronger together and dedicated to continuing this important work for the benefit of the Quinte region."
The local jobs website, which boasts over a thousand job seekers and over one hundred employers, is described as “Like Indeed, but Local”. It provides Quinte region job seekers with a free platform to find local jobs, while regional employers are provided with a comprehensive applicant tracking system to post and manage jobs, plus rank and correspond with applicants, all at no cost. Meanwhile, the spring and fall Work in Quinte Career Fairs play host to over 500 job seekers and more than 50 employers and employment service providers, acting as a key resource across multiple sectors for workforce development in the Quinte region.
“The growth and the success of Work in Quinte is 100% a result of many people and partners coming together to make something the best it can be. This partnership is awesome and the fact that it’s being recognized provincially is super validating of the hard work we’ve all put in,” says Dug Stevenson, Bay of Quinte’s Executive Director.
Anyone interested in learning more about employment in the Quinte region is encouraged to make a free profile at WorkinQuinte.ca and to attend the next Work in Quinte Career Fair, which is slated for April 15, 2026, at the Quinte Sport and Wellness Centre in Belleville.
