Development Charges
Development charges are fees levied on new development to fund the cost of increased municipal services and infrastructure such as sidewalks, sewers, roads, and water mains, resulting from new development. These charges are based on a Background Study prepared in accordance with the Development Charges Act (Development Charges Act).
Within the City of Belleville there are two development charges. There is a city-wide development charge that applies to all lands within the City. In addition, there is an area-specific development charge that applies to specific lands in the Stanley Park Area.

Current Background Studies and Development Charge By-law |
The City of Belleville imposes development charges under three by-laws:
|
Statement of the Treasurer |
The Development Charges Act requires the Treasurer of the municipality to annually provide City Council a statement about each Reserve Fund established under the Act. The statement reflects the opening and closing balances of each year, the current year's distribution of the DC proceeds, any financing transfers and the interest earned on the fund. |
