School crossing guards play an important role in keeping children safe as they travel to and from school each day. Their role is to help elementary school children cross streets safely at designated locations throughout the city of Belleville.
These dedicated individuals provide an important community service, working outdoors in all kinds of weather and helping children, families and motorists navigate busy intersections safely.
Locations and Times
There are 24 locations throughout the city which are operated by crossing guards throughout the school year.

This position is perfect for friendly, dependable individuals who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with children, families and the public. We recruit crossing guards on an as-needed basis for temporary part time opportunities throughout the school year. Hours of work vary depending on the crossing location and school needs, and typically align with before school, lunch periods and after school times. Crossing Guard Appreciation
The first full week of June is recognized annually as School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week in Ontario where we thank our crossing guards for their dedication, professionalism and care throughout the year.
