Fares and Passes

Belleville Transit offers a variety of convenient payment options, making it easy to get on board in the way that works best for you. Riders can pay their fare using cash, tickets, passes, reloadable smart cards or the BTap app on their mobile device.

*Concession Fare: Seniors (65+) and Youth (5 to 12) need to present credentials showing their eligibility at City Hall. Riders with a disability need to complete the Reduced Fare Application.

Transfers

Transfers are valid for one transfer within 90 minutes of when the transfer was issued. Once your transfer expires, you will need to pay a new fare. If you experience a problem with your transfer, pay your fare and contact Customer Service at 613-962-1925 option 3. You will be asked to provide the four-digit bus number, date, and time the issue occurred.

Important: Transfers can only be used by the customer that they are issued to.

High school students can receive a free transit pass. Follow the below steps to get your pass:  

  1. At the beginning of each school year an email will be sent to your school email address with instructions on how to register for your free transit pass. If you don’t receive the email, please contact btap@belleville.ca.
  2. After you have successfully registered, download the Belleville Transit BTap app in Google Play or the App Store and sign on with your school email address and password used to register.
  3. Add the free transit pass to your wallet.
  4. Before boarding the bus, activate your free transit pass in the BTap app and scan the QR code on the farebox located next to the bus driver.

Please note that showing your student I.D. card to board the bus is no longer accepted. For more information, contact Belleville Transit at 613-962-1925 option 3.

School groups receive reduced rate transit services for field trips.  Please use our online form to submit your request. 

How to Purchase Fares and Passes

You can purchase tickets, passes, reload your smart card or purchase a smart card at Belleville City Hall (169 Front St.) Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for holidays. For Concession fare purchases, riders will need to present credentials showing their eligibility.

Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Rd.)

You can purchase a smart card to reload online or at City Hall, during regular operating hours.

Adult tickets and passes can also be purchased at additional locations throughout the city.

You can purchase tickets, passes, reload your smart card or purchase a smart card online.

BTap App

To purchase tickets and passes on your mobile device, download the BTap app from Google Play or the App Store. Once downloaded, you can use your credit card or a supported debit card to purchase tickets or a monthly pass. Monthly passes are valid for 30 days from your first use.

BTap Reloadable Smart Card

Once you have purchased your reloadable smart card, you can use your credit card or supported debit card to reload it with tickets or passes online.

Frequently asked questions

No. You can make purchases as a guest but they will not be protected if you lose access to your phone.  A warning message will be presented to you before you proceed with your payment.

When you lose your phone, or change it for a new one, you need to contact us via email at: btap@belleville.ca, and specify the email address associated with your account. When we receive your email, we will release your account from the old device, and you can re-install the application on your new device and login. All your previously purchased products and preferences will still be there. Please expect a 24 hours delay for this request.

No. Multi-ride passes are intended for your use only. If you attempt to share these passes with other people, you may be denied boarding.

You have 10 minutes to board the bus once your ticket or pass has been activated.

Yes. The functionality to activate a ticket or pass when you are not connected to a cellular network or the internet has been disabled in the BTap app to address some technical issues. We will return this functionality to the app once these issues have been fixed. If you do not have access to a cellular network or the internet and you are unable to use a ticket or pass that you previously purchased, please contact btap@belleville.ca.
