Floral Displays

Each year, City staff grow and maintain more than 75,000 plants in flower beds, hanging baskets and planters at more than 90 locations across the city.

Where You Can See Floral Displays

Seasonal flower displays can be found in many public spaces, including:

  • Parks and green spaces
  • Downtown streets and boulevards
  • Traffic medians and public squares
  • Municipal facilities and landmarks

Displays change throughout the growing season to keep public spaces colourful and welcoming.

Canadian flag floral display on 401 hill

One of the City’s most recognizable displays is the floral Canadian flag, located south of Highway 401 between Highway 62 and Highway 37.

The display is planted with approximately 32,000 begonias, including:

  • 20,500 red begonias
  • 11,500 white begonias

The floral flag is visible from Highway 401 during the summer months.

Flower planters along Front Street

City staff grow plants in municipal greenhouses each year for use in hanging baskets and planters throughout Belleville.

These baskets are installed along streets and in public areas to add seasonal colour and enhance public spaces.

Edible garden on Station Street

Some City garden beds are used to grow herbs and vegetables like kale, cabbage, rosemary, peppers and more.

Produce harvested from these beds is donated to local food banks, helping provide fresh food for residents in need.

Glanmore National Historic Site

Plant selections at the Glanmore National Historic Site reflect the historic garden styles of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

These plantings help maintain the heritage character of the site.

Belleville’s floral displays help create vibrant public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the growing season.
