Park Upgrades
The City of Belleville continues to improve parks, playgrounds and green spaces across the community. These projects support recommendations from the City’s Parkland and Recreation Master Plan and help expand recreation opportunities for residents.
Upgrades may include new playgrounds, sports courts, trails and other park amenities.
Recent and Ongoing Projects
Funding was approved for a new playground at Heritage Park (28 Redwood Dr.) in 2026. Construction is set to take place this summer.
Funding was approved for a new multi-use court at Clarence Bird Park (6 Hampton Ridge Dr.) in 2026. Construction is set to take place this summer.
Clifford Sonny Belch Park (formally Hillcrest Park)
The development of Clifford Sonny Belch Park (formerly Hillcrest Park) included the addition of eight pickleball courts, two 3v3 basketball courts, a skate dot, a picnic shelter, splashpad, playground, trail establishment and paving, landscaping and tree planting, as well as other park amenities. Work at the park will be completed this spring.
Construction of a new playground was completed and opened to the public in October of 2025.
The City worked alongside the developer in 2025 to install trees, trail paving/connection and a 3v3 basketball court in Riverstone Subdivision.
The recreational trail and facilities at Parkdale Veterans Park, and parking lot at the Quinte Rowing Club received paving improvements in 2025 to provide structure, flow and enhance accessibility at both locations.
Through a collaborative effort between the Quinte Cricket Association and the City of Belleville, a cricket pitch has been funded and installed between the two most easterly soccer fields at the park in 2025.
Shirley Langer Recreational Trail
Phase one of the newly established Shirley Langer Recreational Trail was completed in 2021. Phase two which included the installation and construction of cross-country skiing and snow shoe trails for winter recreation and rough terrain cycling during other seasons, was completed in 2024.
Work at Riverside Park West included the installation of a BMX Pump Track and skills development area which were opened to the public in 2023 and 2024.
The City completed improvements to Potter's Creek Park in 2024, including the installation of a new tennis and pickleball court with sport lighting.
