If you are a resident of the City of Belleville, you may dispose of leaf and yard waste through the bi-annual curbside pickup program or free of charge at the Leaf and Yard Waste Depot at 75 Wallbridge Crescent. The Depot is on the north side of the Public Works' building.
Leave the Leaves! We encourage residents to leave the leaves in late fall and early spring as pollinators begin their lives in the leaves as larvae and provide pollinators with cover. Additionally, leaves can be mulched and act as natural fertilizer for your yard and plants!

Leaf disposal alternatives
Residents may consider leaving the leaves in late fall and early spring as pollinators begin their lives in the leaves as larvae and provide pollinators with cover. Critters ranging from turtles and toads to birds, mammals and invertebrates rely on leaf litter for food, shelter, and nesting material. Many moth and butterfly caterpillars hibernate in fallen leaves before emerging in spring. In addition, leaves can be mulched and act as natural fertilizer for your yard and garden
If you do not wish to use our curbside pickup service or Depot, you can:
- Mulch leaves to use in gardens, flowerbeds, or leave them on your yard
- Compost leaves in your backyard composter
